Whether you have just purchased a fume hood, bio-cabinet, or any other laboratory equipment requiring ventilation, or you are replacing duct to an existing hood, CatLabPro can provide a wide range of options to accommodate your ventilation needs.

Our polyvinyl chloride (PVC) duct and fittings, as well as any specialty materials that are needed, will assure that your fume hood installation will function properly and be maintenance friendly while protecting the environment. For applications requiring treatments such as filtering and washing of fumes, we offer HEPA filters, scrubbers, and full washdown systems.

As well as carrying a full line of duct and fittings, we also make roof curbs, support collars for our duct and zero pressure stacks, and any number of other items needed for a proper installation. All installation products come complete with information sheets as well as instructions for proper installation.

General Recommendations

1. Average face velocities should be between 60 and 100 lfpm.
2. The recommended number of air changes in a laboratory is 4 to 12 per hour. This may need to be increased based upon application risk levels.
3. Continuous monitoring of face velocity alarm systems is recommended.
4. Adequate supply air is necessary for the fume hood system to operate properly.
5. All fume hoods should be located away from high traffic areas, doorways, ceiling diffusers, etc.
6. Multiple unit fume exhaust systems may require balancing dampers.
7. Exhaust systems should be maintained and monitored on a periodic schedule.
8. Exhaust blower and discharge stacks should be located to prevent re-entry of contaminants through the building’s supply air system.
