FAQs

What work surface should a food or beverage testing lab use?
Stainless steel is the usual choice for food, beverage and pharmaceutical labs and for any wash-down area, because it sanitizes cleanly and tolerates constant moisture. Phenolic resin is a strong alternative for analytical benches — it is non-porous, will not support bacterial growth, and costs less than stainless. Many food labs use both: stainless where product is handled, phenolic on the instrument bench.
Are your lab benches suitable for a sanitary or wash-down environment?
Yes. Phenolic work surfaces are non-porous and both the surface and the powder-coated steel base can be disinfected without supporting bacterial growth. For heavier wash-down duty, stainless steel surfaces are available.
How much weight will a lab table hold?
CatLabPro lab tables support up to 1,000 lbs of equipment, which covers most food and beverage QC instrumentation — texture analyzers, viscometers, benchtop centrifuges and analytical balances. See our lab tables.
Do food and beverage labs need a fume hood?
It depends on the testing performed. Labs running solvent extractions, Kjeldahl nitrogen analysis, sample digestions or any procedure generating hazardous vapors will need one. Labs limited to sensory panels, pH and basic physical testing often will not. CatLabPro supplies both ducted and ductless fume hoods — ducted hoods vent outdoors, ductless hoods filter and return air to the room.
What sinks are available for a food or beverage lab?
CatLabPro stocks cup sinks, epoxy sinks and stainless steel sinks, along with WaterSaver fixtures. Stainless is generally specified where sanitation is the priority; epoxy where chemical resistance matters more. See lab sinks.
Can we equip a small QC lab as well as a large production lab?
Yes. The product range covers single-bench QC corners inside a production facility through to full multi-station testing labs. Because everything is stocked rather than built to order, scaling up later means reordering the same models rather than re-specifying.
Are eyewash stations required in a food testing lab?
OSHA requires emergency safety equipment wherever workers handle potentially dangerous gases, chemicals or other materials (29 CFR 1910.151). Most food and beverage labs using reagents or cleaning chemicals fall under this. CatLabPro supplies eyewash stations and safety showers through our lab fixtures range.
How long does delivery take for a food and beverage lab fit-out?
Products are in stock and generally ship within 5–7 days of order. Installation is not included, but assembly is light and requires only a screwdriver.
